Just a glance

Parisienne on a bike in her black dressI am still working on what I want to say about out trip (and getting caught up in real life) so I'll just post this picture of a lovely Parisienne on her way somewhere on a summer evening, pausing to look in a window in the Marais.

Were there many cyclists there compared to Boston? Not on Velibs, but on private bikes?

An inspiring shot. I wonder if part of my attraction to bike commuting comes from my desire to recreate the look and feel of old cities and towns I've visited in Europe?

Cool shot. Just wondering what that is behind her - a pigeon?

Gosh, I'm not sure what that is. Probably a pigeon.

Looks like she's biking in cute wedge heels, too!

If this beautiful shot is any indication of what you were able to capture while on vacation, then OMG..how exciting to see the rest! Can't wait to see and learn more about your trip.

to lovely bicycle! ... I was in Paris for a few days in 2007, around the year that the Velib program was first introduced, and I found that, if you're just counting private bikes, the number of cyclists actually was not that much higher than Boston and certainly not as high as more bike friendly North American cities like Montreal or Portland. However, the number of Velibs on the road was probably just as high as the number of regular bikes.
