Back Bay Gazelle

Walking recently I was nearly blinded by the chrome on this sturdy vintage Gazelle.

It's a "touren" model, so I guess it makes sense it's so far from home.

The saddle was most remarkable, I suppose it must be comfortable with all that suspension, but it looks a bit like a torture device to those of us who haven't tried it!

Gazelle leather saddle springs
All in all I think there may be 8 springs supporting this saddle!

That's a serious saddle! I bet it handles Pave' without blinking an eye.
Always fun to see a bike someone loves enough to transport across an ocean.

What a cool bike. I once had a bike with a kick stand like that. Wish I had that bike still...I can't even recall what make it was. Oh well...

Vintage Gazelles are great bikes. I hope some day the bike you photographed meets its female counterpart in Cambridge and they make a love connection!

Re the saddle: I see many of those in Vienna, and they are always flaking/peeling in the same way as the one on your picture. But apparently the owners love them and prefer to keep them rather than get modern versions.

Beautiful! From the first photo, I could not tell it was vintage. Nice that Gazelle has remained so faithful to its classic design.

I've been dying for a saddle like that all summer to put on my cruiser. At the moment, however, all that is available on the new market is the pricey stuff and the cheap junk.

Note that the saddle is locked.

I have the same. A-Touren are in my opinion the best Gazelle bikes. Mine is more than 30 years old, no rust, weights 35kg!! ;-) etc. I took it from cologne to bruxelles to geneva ... and will have it with me my whole life if noone steals it. it's great!
